Terminix Service, Inc. was founded in 1947 in Columbia, S.C. when Thomas P. Knox started the franchise with his three adult children—Juddie Knox Fortson, T.P. Knox Jr. and Marion Knox Sr. Now seventy years later, the family owned and operated franchise of Terminix International is the eighth largest pest control company in the country.
Today, our senior leadership is second and third generation strong, so when you sign up with Terminix to defend your home, you’re among family. We are headquartered in Columbia, S.C. and provide exceptional service through 54 branches across South Carolina, western North Carolina and in Central Savannah River Area of Georgia. We invest in the people and communities where our employees live, work and play. Our goal is to provide services that protect and enhance our communities—it’s something T.P. Knox believed in, and the basis for how we continue to do business 70 years later.

Staying true to company values is something that’s important to us. It’s what has sustained over the last 70 years, and what drives us as we move forward. Beginning in 1947, we’ve always believed in creating a caring, family environment, especially as the company continues to grow. And we’ve been fortunate to see our share of growth. A big part of that is taking care of customers and employees alike. It’s the hallmark of our business and what separates us from the competition.
That’s why, more than ever, we’re committed to giving our keymen the training, techniques and leading edge technology they deserve. Training is something we take very serious. Our keymen are equipped with the best tools, but it’s their knowledge that makes us Terminix. As the saying goes around here, we don’t have any proprietary equipment or anything else the competition doesn’t have. Our difference is our people. And for nearly 70 years, that simple fact still remains.
From our training, new techniques and technology will continue to emerge because we’re always searching for a better way and sharing what works and, more importantly, what doesn’t work. As we look toward the future, the values that have sustained us over the last 70 years are still present. Moving forward, we will continue to strive to do the very best by our employees and customers everyday. That’s our commitment. And one we’ve stood behind since 1947.
