Prep it now to prevent problems later

It’s a tough task, because termites love cellulose. That means if your house has any sources of wood, paper, cardboard or even cloth and carpet, you can be at risk for an attack. While you can always rely on our expertise, there are also a few things you can do to help protect your home.

Tips for Prevention

Since subterranean termites are the kind you’re most likely to encounter, you should discourage them by limiting moisture and damp wood in and around your home:

  1. Repair plumbing leaks.
  2. Make sure gutters and downspouts are not clogged or damaged, and are directing water away from the foundation. Install gutters if you don’t have them.
  3. Point sprinklers away from your foundation.
  4. Prevent any pooling water next to your foundation by re-grading the soil so that water flows away from your house, or install a drainage system like a French drain.
  5. Keep your roof in good shape and free of leaks.
  6. Repair and replace damaged siding and flashing.
  7. Store firewood, scrap lumber, or any other wooden products as far from your house as possible.
  8. Do not use an excessive amount of mulch or pine straw around the foundation.
  9. Trim any adjacent bushes and trees.
  10. Make sure your crawlspace has adequate ventilation and a moisture barrier, like the kind offered through our Humidi-Seal system.
  11. Do not store wood or anything containing cellulose in your crawlspace.

Pretreat and Seal

When it comes to termites, you can’t always do it on your own. That’s why we offer several effective pretreatment options, including borate wood treatment and our termite baiting system. If you’re building new, consider our liquid termiticide soil treatment prior to construction.

For your crawlspace needs, our exclusive Humidi-Seal Plus service addresses the moisture and humidity problems that can attract termites — while also adding our termite baiting system to take care of any colonies you encounter.

As usual, all of our work is backed by our respected name and unbeatable lifetime guarantee.
