Excessive Moisture Can Cause Major Problems

We offer several options to control moisture in your crawlspace.

Excessive moisture under your home can cause major problems, leading to costly repairs. Not only will excessive moisture promote the growth of fungi which damage and decay wood, it will also attract termites and other unwanted pests. We offer several options to control moisture in your crawlspace.

HUMIDI-SEAL CRAWL SPACE DEHUMIDIFICATION

This is our most effective moisture control system! If you have standing water in the crawlspace, we begin by installing a water drainage system and sump pump. Next, we enclose the crawlspace by sealing the vents and crawl space door, patching holes, and installing an 8 mil, nylon reinforced polyethylene liner. The liner is custom fit to your crawlspace so that 100% of the soil is covered. The liner also covers the foundation wall and piers, but we leave at least a 6 inch gap from the top of the liner to the band sill so that we may detect signs of termites during subsequent inspections. A dehumidifier is then installed in the crawlspace to remove the moisture from the air. Finally, a remote sensor is placed in the crawlspace that electronically transmits temperature and humidity readings to an indoor unit, so that you can monitor the condition of the crawlspace from inside your home, and let us know if something goes wrong. Terminix will inspect and service the Humidi-Seal system on an annual basis for as long as you maintain your service agreement. Your crawlspace will be clean, dry, and pretty!

CRAWLSPACE SOIL MOISTURE BARRIERS (VAPOR BARRIERS)

A major source of moisture in the crawlspace comes from the soil. Water in the soil evaporates into the air and condenses on the wood above it. Installing a plastic barrier on top of the soil reduces the amount of moisture coming from this area. Terminix will install a 6 mil polyethylene soil barrier to help dry out the crawlspace.

CRAWLSPACE FOUDATION VENTILATORS

If your foundation vents are not working properly, air cannot circulate. This could eventually lead to moisture problems. Terminix offers a wide variety of temperature controlled foundation vents that open and close automatically. These vents will save you from remembering to manually close the vents during cold weather months and open them back up for the warm weather months and will enhance the aesthetic appeal of your home.
